ASPHALT EMULSIONS

REDD Engineering has years of experience designing and building emulsion plants to produce various cationic and anionic emulsions. Our design flexibility will allow us to meet your needs regarding key design parameters such as equipment layout and preferences, batch capacity, production rate, level of automation, etc.

REDD's process utilizes our proprietary technology and most recent developments in chemical formulation and equipment configuration. Our design can be highly automated to be operated by a single person or can be provided with semi-automatic control where desired.

Key advantages of using a REDD system are as follows:

Formulation - REDD can assist you in developing a formulation or recipe for the desired emulsion product based on your available asphalt base stock.

Flexibility - REDD's design and equipment configuration provides for a high degree of flexibility by allowing the production of various emulsion grades at production rates from 7,000 to 25,000 gallons per hour using a single emulsion skid. Our design can utilize base stocks that are normally maintained hot for asphalt binder purposes.

Efficiency - High efficiency is achieved in REDD's design by minimizing the quantity of chemicals required while exceeding product specifications. Power and heat requirements are minimized through the use of heat exchangers and controls.

Automated Process - REDD's process controls the soap and asphalt addition rate automatically, maintaining the desired soap concentration based on the asphalt flow rate into the colloid mill. REDD's automated process provides improved metering and control versus manual versions.

Homogeneous Emulsion - REDD's equipment configuration and equipment selection incorporates a combination of temperature, pressure milling, mixing, and automation that result in a homogeneous emulsion product.

Avoiding Product Stratification - The milling and mixing scheme used by REDD impedes separation of the emulsion product and provides a stable emulsion product.
